On the 23rd of April every year thousands of pilgrims (the majority of them Muslim) celebrate Saint George's day. A traditional pilgrimage takes place here on Büyükada one of the islands 30 kilometres off the coast of Istanbul, Turkey.
People from all walks of life come to climb one of the hills to the 12th Century Greek monastery of Saint George. This April in beautiful weather about 15000 made the pilgrimage, hoping and praying that their wishes would come true, to get a blessing, etc. We were there to share the hope we have in Jesus through literature, evangelism, prayer and creative means. The TACO Team and several from the BCC joined the outreach.
Please pray for the many seeds of the gospel that were sown and that many will come to faith as a result. It was also Children’s Day that day throughout Turkey – a great reminder to pray for the children and youth of this nation.
