On November 14th 2008 we launched a new website called ‘meeting Allah’.com. Already, in the first 2 months we have had 200,000 unique visitors!
The website is interactive and takes visitors through 5 stages: ‘Allah’s love letter’, ‘real testimonies’, ‘a conversation with Allah’, ‘who is the prophet Isa?’ and ‘Allah and you’. At the end of these five stages visitors are invited to pray a prayer of salvation and then have the option of sending us their contact details and/or questions. During these two months over 15,000 people have indicated that they have prayed the prayer and we have received over 2000 forms. Praise God!
It is well known that Arabic Christians use the word Allah for God. In Turkish there is a non-Arabic word for God which early Turkish Christians decided to use. Over the last few years, with the rise of political Islam, the general usage of the non-Arabic word has declined and Allah has increased greatly in usage. It was for this reason that we decided to use Allah in the url and throughout the site. As far as we know this is the first Christian site to do so. When internet users in Turkey look for God they use the word Allah. On average over the last few years 65% of our new students are male and 35% female. One interesting thing about this site is that these figures are reversed. Of the 2000 forms we have received about 65% have been from women.
This website was launched in partnership with a French group called Top Chretien. They have worked very hard in producing this material and are excited about being able to translate it into all the major internet languages. You can watch real time decisions being made for Christ here and count how many of them are from Turkey! You won’t have to wait long. This level of response obviously generates much work. Please pray for our Turkish brother who is responsible for organising the followup for these people. Please pray that these large numbers will be translated into active church members looking to see God glorified in this land.
